May 19, 2017 5:00 pm

East Montpelier and Plainfield area is expected to be back on line by 6 pm today. We found a tree the line and are cutting it away now.

May 19, 2017  4:28 p.m.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., the feeder out of the East Montpelier substation dropped out.   There are currently three crews patrolling the line, and WEC will restore power as soon as the cause is determined and repairs have been made.

We had very powerful micro cell storms move through our area yesterday evening and last night.  As of 6 am this morning we have 155 members still without power. Unfortunately we have several broken poles and there are around 20 separate outages most with wires down. It will be into the late afternoon or evening before we have the system back to 100%. We are calling in crews from other utilities to assist us in the restoration effort.

Please remember that any downed wire can be energized and it is not safe to approach or touch the wire. Please call at 1-800-932-5245 if you see downed wires or trees on lines.

In the event of a large and widespread outage, we may post more information as it becomes available at this web page. However, please note the updates can be delayed as crews and staff are focusing on restoring power in the field.  For real time information please use the WEC outage map link on the previous page. It is linked to our computer system and automatically updates to display outage data by town.

Please remember do not touch or approach a power line that is on the ground as it may be energized. If you find a downed wire please call us immediately at 1-800-932-5245.
