RESTORED – 4/20/22 Outages

WECOutages

April 20, 2022 | 4:00 pm

As of 4:00 pm this afternoon, the outages in Washington Electric Cooperative territory have been restored! Dedicated crews worked over the course of two days and two nights to restore power to more than 2,700 members who were out of electricity at the peak of this event. Across Vermont, roughly 20,000 people were out of power at one point.

These outages, caused by heavy, wet snow which brought down trees and lines, were in nearly every town served by WEC. In all, there were more than 120 separate events on our electrical system, resulting in time consuming and difficult work to restore electricity, particularly at the far ends of the power lines. Please note that it will take a couple of weeks to clean up from the damage this storm caused.

Thanks to all of those working with line crews, to the member services representatives who took calls from those without power and especially to the members for their patience and understanding while we worked to do repairs.

Remember, as always, to never approach downed electrical lines and to call Washington Electric Cooperative about power outages or downed lines.
