RESTORED: Outages 1-13-2024

WECOutages

Saturday, January 13, 2024 – 7 pm –

WEC crews have completed restoring the last remaining outage in Marshfield, and at this time, there are no other outages on our system. Thank you to our crews for their great work and dedication, and to our members for your patience and outage reports.

As we have said, Washington Electric was lucky to avoid extensive damage from both winter storms this week, which allowed us to restore power to our members fairly quickly. Other utilities, especially those to our west and north, experienced far stronger winds in both storms and, therefore, greater damage and impacts to their systems. At this time, roughly 6,000 Vermonters remain without power, with the most being in Rutland, Caledonia, Addison, and Chittenden counties.

Remember: Do not approach downed lines or trees on lines, as they may still be energized.
If you see a tree on power lines or lines down, please report it to us: local 802-223-5245 or toll-free 1-800-932-5245.

Crews have been working steadily all day and have restored power to all but 26 WEC members in Plainfield, Tunbridge, Orange, and Groton. Please be sure to report outages, trees down or on power lines, or wires down.

Statewide, roughly 22,000 Vermonters remain without power, mainly due to high wind gusts from last night’s and today’s winter storm.

Remember: Do not approach downed lines or trees on lines, as they may still be energized.

Crews have restored the major outage in Williamstown and Orange, and are working on the Brook Rd (Plainfield) outage and other outages, as well. Roughly 270 members are currently without power. Please be sure to report your outage and trees or lines down.

Crews are working on a major outage affecting 455 members in Williamstown and Orange right now. There is a significant amount of line to examine and repair, so it may take some time, but that work is underway. Crews are also working on the other major outage in our territory right now on Brook Road in Plainfield, affecting 207 members.

Remember: Do not approach downed lines or trees on lines, as they may still be energized.

Members are starting to experience outages due to today’s winter storm in slightly larger numbers. More than 400 are without power right now. Crews are working on restoration, and we expect most of the damage from this storm to have occurred by about noon today. At this point it appears that like the storm earlier this week, WEC territory suffered much less damage than other utility territories due to where the weather hit in Vermont.

Remember: Do not approach downed lines or trees on lines, as they may still be energized.

WEC is starting to see a few outages due to the latest in a string of winter storms. Our territory was lucky in avoiding the most significant damage from the storm earlier this week and had far fewer outages than other utilities experienced, allowing crews to restore power fairly quickly. It is unclear if we will see a similar patter this time, although the storms are similar. We will keep you updated.

Remember: Do not approach downed lines or trees on lines, as they may still be energized.
