A severe weather event will impact our region tonight and tomorrow (Jan 9-10). Wind gusts up to 40 – 60 mph have been forecast for WEC territory. Therefore, WEC expects power outages to occur throughout our service territory overnight tonight and tomorrow. Given the severity and scope predicted for this storm, some outages will likely persist for two or more days. We encourage you to prepare for outages as soon as possible by gathering non-perishable foodstuffs, water, fuel/wood, flashlights and candles, warm clothes and blankets, and any other essentials you may need. For tips on preparing for outages, take a look at our Outage Prep Checklist. You can also call 211 for assistance with accessing basic resources, including heating, shelter, food, mental health resources, and more.
Additionally, heavy wet snow is expected in varying amounts.
Please see the area forecast from the National Weather Service for more detailed information.
Remember: Do not approach downed lines or trees on lines, as they may still be energized.
If you see a tree on power lines or lines down, please report it to us: local 802-223-5245 or toll-free 1-800-932-5245.
